What make's an effective leader?

Term 4, Week 1. Walt - Identify and use features of explanation writing.

What makes an effective leader? A true leader has a passion for a cause that is larger than they are, and their passion is leading others to do the right thing. Leaders have a lot of confidence because their confidence can help others have some confidence in themselves to do anything or be anything. To be an effective leader you have to be a good person, an effective leader would treat everyone with respect and would have good manners.

Firstly, a Leader's passion is being an effective leader. Well, some leaders have more than one passion, but they put a lot of hard work to be a good and effective leader. Leaders that have the passion to be good and effective cares about being a leader. And a Leader with a dream and a vision that will better society, or at least, some portion of it.

Secondly, Leaders with confidence can help others be more confident in a variety of situations. Like if your Leader or someone you follow that inspires you are very good at speaking in front of a large number of people and make it look so easy. Maybe one day their courage can help you have the courage to do the same. But not only that, Leaders have to be confident in themselves and others, so they can have confidence in others to help support them in whatever they're doing.

Lastly, being a respectful leader is one of the main things all leaders should be or have. All leaders have to have good manners, respect for everyone even if they don’t know them. An effective leader is always polite. Being respectful, kind, polite and nice makes you look like a very good person and it shows that you were brought up by your parents correctly.

All three points are very important to be an effective leader. Having a dream and a vision will help a better society if your passionate about doing the right things in being an effective leader. Having confidence in yourself so you can become or do whatever you like. Having good manners or respect towards everyone just makes you a good person. So, did any of these three points help? Would you like more information on, What makes an effective leader?

Task Description - This week we are practicing, Explanation Writing. Because next week Thursday we have our writing test and our main writing topic or genre is Explanation Writing. So this week we had to write about, What makes an effective leader? And I am a leader myself so I just took my three main points from what I know about what I have to do when I have to be a leader.

Should student have to wear school uniform?

Should students have to wear school uniforms? Uniforms have many drawbacks because they are not always affordable, creates more laundry with extra items to clean each week and they make everyone the same.

At Pt England School the school uniform is too expensive. The jacket is $49 - $54 dollars. It is about 40 dollars for a sport t-shirt, which is compulsory to wear when we do fitness, And the culottes/shorts are about $32. But in the year 7&8 / intermediate all the girls have to wear culottes which are about $47. So if we just wore the clothes sitting in our draw waiting to be used, it would help students families a lot more.

Reason number 2, I think here in New Zealand there are some poor students that only have 1 set of uniform, so they either wash their uniforms everyday when they get home from school, Or they wear the same pair of uniform at school for 5 days. Then on a Friday they would wash their uniform so it would be fresh and clean for the next week. So what I’m trying to pin is that if we just wear the clothes that are sitting in our draw it would be easier. And yes you would still have to wash your mufti clothes everyday but sometimes when schools have bright uniform and you keep washing it, it either fades or shrinks.

Some school staff, principals or teachers think wearing school uniforms help prevent to stop bullying. Because it makes everyone the same and some schools are so strict that your hair tie has to be your school uniform color or your socks have to black or white. Well at my school you aren’t allowed to wear hoops in your ears because they might get caught on something. But that’s not the point. The point is in my point of view is that teachers need to be harder on kids so they don’t bully and actually talk to kids and be more open to kids and be nicer to the kids who they think might need some actual help. Like talking to the kids who don't feel comfortable talking to their own families.

So overall I think students shouldn’t have to wear school uniform or some schools should even give students the option to wear school uniform or to wear mufti. So that if there is a school trip the teachers can tell the kids to wear their school uniforms so that the public can see what school is that. But back at school on normal days teachers or principals could give students the option to wear mufti. So here in NZ I think some schools uniforms prices are too high and some parents just can't afford it. Or school uniforms makes more laundry sometimes, or if you have 1 set of uniform every time you wash it, it starts to fade or shrink. I even think it's sometimes best to look different and just learn to accept people for who they are and teachers should teach that.

Task Description - Ms Tapuke gave Room 2 Literacy a topic and we had to look at the pro's and con's site that she had linked for us before writing our 3 main opinion. Rata And The Totara Tree Review.

WALT: interpret figurative language and its effect on a text.

The Rata and the Totara Tree I read was retold by Katerina Te Heikoko Mataira. The genre in her version was fiction. The key things she shared was that ceremonies and rituals had to be properly performed to ask for the God’s permission. This story is about a man named Rata who was commanded by his chief to build a large canoe so his people can voyage. After Rata looked and looked for the tallest tree he finally came across a large Totara tree. He ordered the men with him to cut it down. The Next day it was back up not a scratch. It’s like as if it hasn’t even been touch.
